How to Make a Meme: From Image to PNG

A practical guide to choosing an image, writing a short caption and exporting a readable meme on desktop or mobile.

Choose your starting point

Open the free generator to use your own JPG, PNG or WebP. Images stay in your browser. Or browse original templates when you want a ready-made composition.

Write two short lines

Give the reader a situation, then a reaction. “The meeting is over / One quick thing, though” works because the second line changes the first. Replace the details with something your audience knows.

Keep it readable

Use short sentences, clear contrast and generous space. The editor fits long text automatically. If the warning remains, shorten the wording or enlarge the text area. Check the preview at phone size.

Export and share

Select Export PNG. The original image proportions are preserved, with the longest side capped at 2048 pixels for large images. Save the file on your device and share it in your chat. On mobile, check your browser downloads or Files app.

Before sending

Read both lines together and check that the joke fits the conversation. Use the image-specific permission information when choosing a public template. Your own photo stays local.
